The Pittsburgh Steelers scored just 17 points and 222 total yards against the Dallas Cowboys, and Justin Fields could not get anything done all night long.
Fields threw for just 158 yards and only added 27 yards on the ground.
Pittsburgh totaled just 3.5 yards per carry on the ground as they failed to eclipse 100 total yards in the game against one of the worst run defenses in the NFL.
That is a huge problem.
When asked after the game, Steelers quarterback Justin Fields said that he thinks the offense has an identity, but he was rather unclear about what that was.
“I think we have an identity. I just don’t know what it is, I never heard necessarily an option for an identity,” Fields said. “I think we ran the ball well today. Like I said, I think we just missed shots and shot ourselves in the foot again. So, I don’t think we’re one of those teams looking for an identity.
I think we know who we are. We’re a team that is predicated on running the football and staying on schedule on first and second down and then executing on third down, but we just didn’t get the job done.”

Pittsburgh ranks near the bottom of the league regarding efficiency, and if it wasn’t for two Dak Prescott interceptions, the team could easily have been blown out.
Before this loss to the Cowboys, there was talk about how Justin Fields had been performing better than Patrick Mahomes so far this year. In one game, all of that talk ended.
Will Justin Fields Keep Starting Job Over Russell Wilson?
Steelers QB Russell Wilson is nearing a return from his calf injury.
Adam Schefter insinuated he could play as early as this week against the Raiders.
“Russell has been getting healthier and healthier, and I think he is now at the point where he is healthy enough to play,” Schefter said on the Pat McAfee show.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback situation will be a point of contention moving forward. Justin Fields has played well enough to keep the job, as he has the team with a 3-2 record.
Fields has played admirably for the Steelers thus far this season, passing for 961 yards and five touchdowns with only one interception.
At this point, it is just a wait-and-see game.
