NBC analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Jason Garrett told a sad story about what happened to the delicious turkey leg he won for his performance in a 1994 home win against the Green Bay Packers.
Starting in favor of an injured Troy Aikman in the Cowboys’ 1994 home Thanksgiving game against Brett Favre’s Packers, Jason Garrett had his defining NFL moment with 311 passing yards and two touchdowns in a 42-31 Dallas win.
Garrett and Mike Tirico were on the call for the Packers-Miami Dolphins game at Lambeau Field on Thursday evening. Garrett recalled the honors of being awarded a turkey leg for helping the Cowboys to a monumental victory.
Unfortunately, the turkey leg wound up going to waste, as Garrett explained during the NBC broadcast:
“I had it in the freezer. It was in tinfoil…I probably had it for 15 years. And then we finally moved, and I called my wife the other day and I said, ‘Do we still have the turkey leg?’ She said, ‘No, it’s long gone.'”
Jason Garrett received a #MaddenThanksgiving turkey leg back in the day for his 1994 performance.

We know a wealthy man like Garrett can afford all the turkey legs he wants, but to waste that specific one is quite the travesty. I mean, how many NFL players can brag about being awarded turkey legs to celebrate a win on Thanksgiving?
Jason Garrett Won 3 Rings As Troy Aikman’s Backup
As previously noted, Garrett’s most memorable NFL moment was leading the Cowboys to victory over the rival Packers on Thanksgiving 1994. But he also had a decorated career as Aikman’s backup QB, winning three Super Bowl rings in his tenure with the franchise.
