The story of Aaron Hernandez captured the lives of many football and true crime fans worldwide. Hernandez was one of the most promising players in the NFL before going to jail and later, unfortunately, taking his own life.
The New England Patriots drafted Hernandez in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He joined a team led by Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. With Rob Gronkowski, the Patriots planned to run an unstoppable two-tight-end system.
Unfortunately, Hernandez got into some highly publicized trouble off the field when he took the life of former friend Odin Lloyd. The motive for Lloyd’s murder was deemed to be that he betrayed Hernandez’s trust.
Of course, he was tried and convicted in 2015, and after spending almost four years in total in police custody, Hernandez took his own life in 2017, and there has been much speculation as to why. FX’s ‘American Sports Story’ claims to know the reason.

Not only that, but Manihane reposted another part of the show, in which he revealed that the Pats were being sued by the Lloyd family. It seemed as though FX was claiming that Manihane revealing so much about the situation may have caused Hernandez’s apparent suicide.
Many fans and even analysts are going to have their own theories on why Hernandez took his own life, but the thing is, we will never truly know why the former star tight end did what he did. We know that it was a promising career, and the lives of two people ended too soon.
