A former New England Patriots star and fan favorite teed off on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Mac Jones in a scathing rant.
Mac Jones is entering his first season with Jacksonville following a disappointing end to his tenure with the Patriots. New England traded the 2021 first-round pick to his hometown team for a 2024 sixth-round draft selection, giving Jones the fresh start he sorely needed heading into his contract year.
Jones looked like a future star in his rookie season, earning Pro Bowl nods and leading New England to the postseason with a 10-7 record. But a rocky relationship with head coach Bill Belichick, coupled with erroneous play, led to a dismal 2023 season that saw him get benched for Bailey Zappe.
During the latest episode of the “The Dan and Ninko Show” that he co-hosts with Dan O’Brien, former Patriots star Rob Ninkovich lit into Jones and threatened to “smack the (expletive) out of” the 25-year-old:
“Look at freaking Mac Jones down in Jacksonville right now. He’s griddying all over the place. I don’t give a f–k. I’ll smack the s–t out of f–king Mac Jones. I don’t care. Do you care if somebody doesn’t like you?”
Ninkovich’s last sentence there was a response to O’Brien stating that Mac Jones “does not like” the two-time Super Bowl champion. Needless to say, it’s obvious that Jones won’t be asking Ninkovich to meet him for a beer in Jacksonville any time soon.

After two stints with the New Orleans Saints and a brief tenure with the Miami Dolphins, Ninkovich joined the Patriots in 2009. He played there until his final NFL season in 2016, helping the Pats to Super Bowl 49 and 51 championships.
Jones and the Jaguars begin their 2024 season on Sunday with a road game against Tyreek Hill’s Miami Dolphins.

Jones’ confidence was clearly destroyed during his final season in New England, though Belichick can take much of the blame for failing to put a proper supporting cast around him.
But Jones now gets to play under a popular player’s coach and offensive guru in Doug Pederson, who should help him regain his confidence while learning behind one of the league’s top young quarterbacks in Trevor Lawrence.
