Football fans are saying the same thing about New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers after he announced his plans for 2025.
Amid a disastrous season for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, some have wondered if the soon-to-be 41-year old might call it quits. Rodgers flirted with retirement over his final three years with the Green Bay Packers and is only a year removed from surgery on a torn Achilles.
The future Hall of Famer is also having a disappointing season for his standards. Rodgers has completed just 62.4 percent of pass attempts for 2,258 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
But while speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Rodgers made it clear that he intends to return for his age-41/42 season in 2025, per SNY:
Unsurprisingly, Rodgers’ announcement led to plenty of angry calls from fans, who think the ex-Packers star should just retire now:

In Aaron Rodgers’ defense, it’s also easy to understand why he wouldn’t want to retire like this. It’s not so much his physical limitations that are holding the Jets back, either.
This was essentially his first season with the Jets, since Rodgers missed all but a few snaps last year. He also had to deal with the complications of a mid-season coaching change, and who knows where the Jets would be in the standings if they acquired Davante Adams before the season?
Aaron Rodgers & Jets Have To Try Again Next Year
Whether Jets fans like it or not, the best call is for the team to run it back with Rodgers and the same core next year. They have too many expensive veterans and young studs in their prime years, so it doesn’t make sense to begin a rebuild.
The Jets catered to Rodgers by bringing in the likes of Adams, Allen Lazard and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. So it would be a head-scratching move to suddenly start from scratch after one bad year with this group.
