New Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields got fans talking this week after a video from the team’s OTAs surfaced online.
Steelers beat writer Nick Farabaugh posted a clip of the former Chicago Bears signal-caller being put through his paces in a ball security drill and doing pretty well.
However, it was the NFL Notifications account that got folks talking after posting the footage with the caption: “Justin Fields doing running back drills.”
Fields excels as a runner, and some reckon he’s way more effective in the rush game than he is as a passer. Still, fans were quick to point out that Fields wasn’t the only one participating, as they also observed that the Steelers were simply trying to strengthen their players’ ball retention.

Justin Fields Will Not Be Returning Kicks For Pittsburgh
Meanwhile, Justin Fields has responded to claims that he could be a kick returner for the Steelers.
Fields’ teammate, Jaylen Warren, previously revealed that special teams coach Danny Smith suggested Fields could be an option to return kicks. But the QB isn’t buying into the idea and has explained what happened.
“I think everybody kind of interpreted it wrong,” the quarterback told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “Coach Danny was basically just trying to send a message that no matter who you are, you could be on special teams. He just used that as an example.
“… It’s funny how serious social media takes everything. It was kind of funny to me when everybody was making a big deal about it for no reason.”
