Dak Prescott cannot catch a break on and off the field.
Prescott’s new hamstring injury will keep him off the field for several weeks. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback had to leave the field after completing a pass to Jalen Brooks in the game that the Cowboys lost to the Atlanta Falcons.
He would not return.
When the news broke about Dak Prescott’s injury, former NFL wide receiver James Jones did not mince a single word when he stated that he believed another player with more character would have stayed on the field despite being injured, especially when his team needed him most in such a crucial game.
“Dak is quitting,” said Jones. “And it’s crazy because it ain’t even funny though. My man is quitting on these dudes. I’ve had a hamstring (injury) plenty of times. And I’m back the next week.
“I’m not Tyreek Hill. It don’t take no four weeks for you to heal from no hamstring. You’re no Lamar Jackson, you’re not Jalen Hurts. You’re not running, where are you running to? Four weeks? Basically put me on ice for four weeks. No fight, no nothing.

“This is a hamstring for a quarterback who is not explosive at the quarterback spot. If they tried to hold me out, I would say ‘Who am I running away from?’ I’ve been 4.5-4.6, I’m gonna stay 4.5-4.6 with a bad hammy. So I’m going out here and playing. Dak Prescott, with the way the season is going right now… We heard him on the sideline with what he said. Dak is quitting on these boys.
“Is it off the bone or something? Because there is no way you’re telling me you’re out four weeks with no answers, no fight, no nothing for a hamstring. And you’re a quarterback. There ain’t no way.
“Drop back and get the ball out. Your hamstring don’t have to be 100 percent at the quarterback spot. Dak Prescott is quitting on these boys. We know, we’ve been in the facility when dudes are hurt and really can’t go. And we know when dudes are messing around.”
This is the latest blow to the reigning NFC East champions’ already highly disappointing season. They are 3-5 and set to be without their most important player for the foreseeable future.
Dallas will feel the loss of Dak Prescott, especially ahead of next weekend’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys’ four upcoming games are against division rivals: vs. Philadelphia Eagles, at Washington Commanders, and vs. New York Giants.
Not to mention, they are also facing the Houston Texans after they face the Eagles.
Dak Prescott Likely Headed to Injured Reserve
The Dallas Cowboys are in a bad spot with their current record and an injury to Dak Prescott.
During his weekly radio interview on 105.3 The FAN, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, “It’s likely we’ll IR him,” meaning Prescott would miss at least the next four games as he tries to heal from the hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Falcons in Atlanta.
Going on injured reserve would force the 2023 league MVP runner-up to be on the sidelines at least until Dec. 9th.
By then, the Dallas Cowboys may very well be out of contention, and the franchise might choose to keep him out.
