Colin Kaepernick is clarifying Jim Harbaugh’s claim that he offered him a coaching position.
Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh still appears to have a close relationship with his former quarterback.
Earlier this year, Harbaugh spoke with USA Today Sports and revealed he contacted Kaepernick to explore the possibility of him joining the Chargers’ coaching staff.
Harbaugh made it clear that he had spoken to Coln Kaepernick after he took the head coaching job in Los Angeles and confirmed in August that he would not be part of the staff for the 2024 season.
“I love Colin, but he’s not going to be on the coaching staff, which is set for this year. And he’s not going to be playing on the roster either,” Harbaugh said after a Chargers practice in August.
Harbaugh selected Kaepernick at No. 36 overall in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft, and they went on to have great success together.
The former Nevada standout took over at quarterback for an injured Alex Smith during his second season and would lead the team to a Super Bowl berth, where they would lose to the Baltimore Ravens.

Colin Kaepernick Clears Up Apparent Job Offer From Jim Harbaugh
Colin Kaepernick made a guest appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” this week, and he clarified whether he was offered a coaching role.
The former San Francisco 49ers passer shot down the entire storyline.
“It is not true,” Kaepernick said, according to Chantz Martin of Fox News.”I found out the same way everyone else did — on social media. I was like, ‘Oh, I got a coaching offer.’ No, no coaching offer.”
Fallon proceeded to ask Colin Kaepernick whether he would be open to coaching in the NFL at some point.
“No interest in coaching,” Kaepernick responded. “I need the adrenaline rush of playing and being in it, or I think I can have more impact in other places with my time.”
