There are many players that fans could consider the future of the NFL, and after being taken second overall in the 2023 NFL draft and outplaying 2023 first overall pick Bryce Young, CJ Stoud is being heavily considered as a player who could become the future GOAT.
Stroud outplayed a lot more than just other rookies in 2023. Unfortunately, due to injuries, Aaron Rodgers was forced out of the season after less than a quarter of play, while the 22-year-old went on to set rookie records all over the board.
Not only did Stroud outplay Rodgers, but it seems he doesn’t believe the Jets’ relatively new signal-caller is all that great of a quarterback after making a statement while speaking with on The Million Dollarz Woth of Game podcast.
In a clip posted to X, Stroud claimed that he believes the four-time MVP was only successful due to the system he was in. Stroud states that current Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford could have three or four more rings if he played in the same system.
CJ Stroud Claims Aaron Rodgers Is Overrated
While he doesn’t say the exact quote, the Texans gunslinger might as well have called the ten-time Pro Bowler overrated. So far, if we’re comparing stats, in Rodgers’ rookie year, he didn’t get nearly as much playing time or attention as Stroud did while leading Houston back to the playoffs.

In one NFL season, Stroud threw for over 4,100 yards while adding 23 touchdowns compared to just five interceptions. That earned him the NFL’s Rookie of the Year award. In his 18 seasons in Green Bay, Rodgers has accumulated over 59,000 passing yards, 475 touchdowns, and just 105 interceptions.
Stroud has a lot more left to do throughout his NFL career. In 20 years time, we can revisit this video and decide whether the young quarterback had reason to make these claims. But until then, we’ll let the play do the talking.
