Caleb Williams took some heat online after a video showed him mimicking Patrick Mahomes in practice.
Mahomes went viral for pulling off a behind-the-back pass to Travis Kelce during last week’s preseason fixture against the Lions. The throw, which earned the Chiefs a key first down, has been the talk around the NFL, with many wondering whether they will see one in the regular season.
While coaches might frown on such antics, fans would most definitely enjoy seeing a behind-the-back throw in a meaningful game. And it appears the Bears rookie is staying ready.
Williams was recorded tossing a pass from behind his back during Bears practice, and it looked pretty good.
Check it out in the clip below:
Despite the accuracy of the throw, fans ripped him for being a Mahomes copycat.

“Nobody saw him do it in hard knocks prior to mahomes doing it,” someone said.
“Ohhhh idk Jim that looked pretty Mahomey to me,” another fan wrote, mockingly.
“He really wants to be the quirky version of Mahomes,” said a third.
“he wants to be Mahomes so bad,” a fourth claimed.
“Bro gets off on Mahomes highlights Dfkm 😭,” a comment read.
Caleb Williams Can Only Get Better By Copying Greatness
There was a bit of an argument over whether Caleb Williams tried this before, with some fans claiming they saw him throw one during the second episode of ‘Hard Knocks’ while others said they could not remember.
In any case, Williams didn’t earn all the comparisons to Patrick Mahomes by playing unlike the Chiefs quarterback—plus, who better to mimic if you’re hoping to become one of the best signal-callers in NFL history?
Who knows? Both of them might attempt the behind-the-back pass this coming season, which would be a neat treat if completed.
