Cameras caught Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs giving up on a play and making what we like to call “a business decision” during Sunday’s ugly loss at home to the Detroit Lions.
Trevon Diggs and the Cowboys suffered a humiliating 47-9 loss to Jared Goff and the visiting Lions at AT&T Stadium in Week 6. Dallas is now 0-3 in home games this season, allowing 119 points over those contests.
Jared Goff picked apart Mike Zimmer’s defense for 315 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. The David Montgomery-led rushing game also racked up 184 yards and two touchdowns on 36 carries.
It was an all-around embarrassing effort by the Cowboys on Sunday. And this clip of Trevon Diggs making a “business decision” by refusing to try and tackle Montgomery sums up the game pretty well for Dallas:
That simply isn’t excusable for an All-Pro cornerback who signed a five-year extension worth $97 million last year. Diggs is a leader of this defense, and regardless of the score and point of the game, you just never want to give up on a routine play like a tackle attempt.

Trevon Diggs is a renowned ball-hawker, but he only has one interception and three pass breakups over the Cowboys’ first six contests this season. Obviously, it’s nothing close to the player who recorded at least three interceptions and 14-plus pass breakups every year from 2020 to 2022.
Trevon Diggs & Cowboys Defense Has Plenty Of Work Ahead
The Cowboys were without All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland, superstar linebacker Micah Parsons and stalwart defensive tackle DeMarcus Lawrence in Sunday’s loss to the Lions, yes.
But a club with Super Bowl aspirations like Dallas can’t use injuries as an excuse. They still have plenty of talent on defense, and players like Trevon Diggs have to step up and fill the void (the way Bland did last year when Diggs got injured) when others are out.
