Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Christian Izien was caught making, in the words of Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce, a “business decision” during the first possession of the team’s road game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Christian Izien is starting at safety with superstar Antoine Winfield Jr. sidelined for tonight’s game with a foot/ankle injury. But let’s just say that the 24-year-old Izien better hope that his coaches don’t pay too much attention to his efforts on the Falcons’ opening touchdown when they study the game film.
Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis noticed an awful effort by Izien to stop Drake London, who turned what should have been nothing more than a first-down gain into a touchdown:
Yeah, the Buccaneers are going to need less “business decisions” and more football plays from Christian Izien if he’s too get more playing time this season. Fortunately for him, the Bucs drove down the field on their opening drive and got a touchdown as well, with Baker Mayfield finding Mike Evans for six.
Christian Izien Bucs Look To Build Their Lead On NFC South
The Bucs are in sole possession of first in the NFC South, thanks to a Week 4 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles that was coupled by a New Orleans Saints defeat to Atlanta. A win on Thursday would put Tampa two games up on Atlanta and 1.5 up on New Orleans, pending the outcome of Monday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
