NFL Films caught an interesting sideline interaction between Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud and veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs during their Week 2 home win over the Chicago Bears on “Sunday Night Football.”
The Texans acquired Stefon Diggs in a blockbuster trade with the Buffalo Bills in April following rumors that he was becoming a problem in the locker room. The Texans took advantage of the opportunity and snagged the All-Pro receiver, giving CJ Stroud another weapon following an excellent rookie year.
Going by Diggs’ conversation with Stroud in Sunday’s 19-13 victory over the Bears, it certainly looks like the four-time Pro Bowler is more than happy with his new team.
“You throw such a friendly ball,” Diggs told Stroud. “You know, I ain’t believe for a long time. You’re so friendly that I’m like, ‘Ah!'”
Over his first two games with CJ Stroud and the Texans, Diggs has 10 receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns. But of course, Diggs can’t expect to put up the same All-Pro numbers with Houston that he posted in Buffalo.

Diggs was the undisputed No. 1 guy for Josh Allen in Buffalo, but Stroud has four other big-time playmakers in wide receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell, Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon and tight end Dalton Schultz.
The Texans restructured Diggs’ contract following the trade, allowing him to hit free agency next spring if he doesn’t re-sign with Houston. For now, his focus is on helping the Texans get over the hump and win their first Super Bowl championship.
CJ Stroud and Houston will try and improve to 3-0 on the season when they take on the surprising 2-0 Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday.
CJ Stroud Is Playing Lights-Out So Far
The 22-year-old Stroud is off to a tremendous start in 2024, completing 69.1 percent of his pass attempts for 494 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. With Houston’s three AFC South foes all starting out 0-2, it already looks like the Texans will cruise to a second straight division crown.
Stroud turned heads a year ago with a rookie season for the ages that culminated with a division title and playoff win over the Cleveland Browns. It’s only two weeks into the new season, but his Texans already look like bonafide contenders heading into Week 3.
