Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill went through quite the ordeal getting to the team’s Hard Rock Stadium ahead of their season-opening game against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday.
Several videos have emerged online showing the Pro Bowler being apprehended by police while trying to get to the stadium. Hill, who was reportedly stopped for a traffic violation, was seen being handcuffed on the ground, with the lawmen seemingly overly aggressive in carrying out their duties.
You can see different angles of the incident in the videos below:
This is reminiscent of golfer Scottie Scheffler getting arrested on his way to the PGA Championship earlier this year. While both men were pulled up for alleged traffic offenses, the manners in which they were detained were hardly similar.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, the wideout was cited for reckless driving and got into a verbal exchange with police before he was detained. He was released sometime after.

“I’m told by sources Tyreek Hill was cited for reckless driving as a result of his incident outside the stadium with police,” Darlington tweeted. “After he was pulled over, he got into a verbal altercation with police. The officer chose to place Hill in handcuffs. He was cited and released after the situation was deescalated.”
Strangely enough, Darlington was the same reporter who broke the Scheffler news. He didn’t need a source then, as the golfer was arrested right in front of him.
Tyreek Hill Is Expected To Play Today
Tyreek Hill is planning to play today, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.
“I was just with Tyreek. He will be playing today,” the agent told MLFootball. “Traffic violation entering the stadium. He is preparing to play”
Rosenhaus also spoke to Darlington on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, claiming the situation was “completely unnecessary. I’m very distraught about it. We’re going to have to look into it.”
