New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers dropped an interesting hint that his team is about to complete a blockbuster trade for one of the league’s best wide receivers.
The Jets have been linked to Las Vegas Raiders superstar wideout Davante Adams, the best playmaker Aaron Rodgers had during his tenure with the Green Bay Packers. Together, the duo led Green Bay to four NFC Championship Game appearances.
Interestingly, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported last November that the Jets inquired about an Adams trade with the Raiders, only to be told he was not available.
While golfing at the American Century Championship, Rodgers was asked about Adams’ fit in the offense of Luke Getsy, the Raiders’ new OC. During the short interaction, the four-time league MVP stated that the two will soon reunite:
“I love Davante, can’t wait to play with him again.”
Well, that’s one way of ramping up the rumors about the Jets potentially completing a trade for Adams. What a fascinating way fo Aaron Rodgers to make headlines during a casual round on the greens….

Rodgers was traded to the Jets ahead of last year’s NFL Draft, one year after the Packers dealt Adams to the Raiders for 2022 first and second-round picks. Unfortunately, Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles tear just minutes into his Jets’ debut against the Buffalo Bills.
The Jets will open their 2024 season against Rodgers’ boyhood team, the San Francisco 49ers, at Levi’s Stadium on “Monday Night Football.”
An Aaron Rodgers-Davante Adams Reunion Makes Perfect Sense
Aaron Rodgers will be 41 years of age in December, and who knows how many prime years Adams has at 31. The Raiders aren’t anywhere close to contention, which is why it makes sense to trade the All-Pro wideout sooner rather than later.
Acquiring Adams would make the Jets’ the Kansas City Chiefs’ No. 1 threat in the AFC. If they got Adams, the Jets would have him, Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams as their top three pass-catchers. And that, folks, is how you maximize your championship window for your ageing QB.
