Vic Fangio was like a lot of people seeing Teddy Bridgewater making zero attempt to tackle Darius Slay on a long touchdown return.
“I would have liked to see Teddy at least make a play at the guy,” Fangio said, according to Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper.
Philadelphia cornerback Darius Slay recovered the ball after Broncos running back Melvin Gordon lost it on a fourth-and-1 and returned it 83 yards for a touchdown, extending the Eagles’ lead to 27-13 entering the fourth quarter. Denver Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater could’ve stopped him, but chose not to.
“Rewatched it today as a team. Coach (Vic Fangio) pointed it out. He said, ‘My effort had to be better there.’ And I totally agree,” Bridgewater said of the play Monday, according to DNVR’s Zac Stevens.
“That’s not the type of tape that I want to put out there. It’s one of those situations where you get pissed after you watch it because you know how much this game means to you. You know guys out there trying to make a play.
“You feel like you got a little help running toward the sideline to try and force a cutback, but in real time it feels like everything happening fast,” Bridgewater added. “I’ll just force a cutback, but when you slow it down, it’s like, ‘Man, just give more effort.’ You watch it and you walk away from it pissed at yourself at the effort. Credit Slay, he made a great play, also.”
