According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Indianapolis Colts have lured a veteran offensive tackle from retirement to join the team.
Offensive tackle Jared Veldheer is coming out of retirement to sign with the Colts. He’ll begin his stint in Indianapolis on the practice squad.
The Colts hosted Veldheer for a workout on December 8th.
The 36-year-old began his NFL career with the then-Oakland Raiders back in 2010.
He last played for the Colts in 2020, starting the season finale against Jacksonville and a playoff loss to Buffalo in the Wild Card round.
He abruptly retired while playing for the Packers in August 2021 after the NFL suspended him for six games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. He later stated the positive drug test resulted from taking a prescription of Clomifene.

A third-round pick in 2010, Veldheer has appeared in 121 games and also played for the Raiders, Cardinals, and Broncos.
The Colts are coming off a loss to the Bengals 34-14 on Sunday but maintain the AFC’s No. 7 seed due to a series of complex tie-breakers.
