Justin Bieber was asked to join Usher’s Super Bowl halftime show, but he would decline.
After Justin Bieber delivered his first performance in a year for the 2024 NHL All-Star Game earlier this month, speculation that the Canadian superstar would be making a surprise appearance at Usher‘s Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show was high, but as we saw, it never happened.
In a preview clip from an upcoming interview on The Breakfast Club, Usher said:
“I honor and recognize the fact that my brother … I think it might have just been that he’s just wanting to tell a different story right now, and I did understand that,” Usher said, via CBS Sports. “We did have a brief conversation, and we’re gonna do something else in the future.
“No love lost or anything like that. It’s a lot of pressure for the Super Bowl, obviously, for me to put together a show. I reached out to everybody. Justin wasn’t the only person I spoke to about doing the Super Bowl, but the moment was maybe for later.”
Bieber and wife Hailey were in attendance at the game and were captured dancing at halftime.
Back in 2022, Bieber was scheduled to do his “Justice” world tour but the trek was ultimately canceled with the purpose of Bieber returning to focus on his health.

Seeing Justin perform again would’ve been a treat to his fan base as he previously canceled dozens of dates on his last tour in 2022 and 2023 due to his diagnosis with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome in June 2022.
It all worked out in the end as Usher’s first Super Bowl show drew 30.1 million households, according to TV intelligence company Samba TV.
