On Saturday, a scathing article was released detailing just how dysfunctional Urban Meyer’s tenure with the Jacksonville Jaguars has been thus far.
The story, which was released by the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, includes details on how Meyer called his assistant coaches “losers” during a meeting and challenged them to prove they were winners like him. It also mentioned a fight that happened between Meyer and veteran Jags receiver Marvin Jones Jr., which almost resulted in the latter leaving the team.
When a story like this breaks, you totally expect the main culprit — in this case, Urban Meyer — to deny every last bit of it…
But that’s not what happened.
Rather, Meyer spoke with Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer and admitted to calling his coaching staff a bunch of “losers.” He backed it up by claiming that “he’s hard on his coaches,” while also confirming the rest of Pelissero’s story — except for his fight with Jones, which he claims didn’t happen.

Despite all of this, the Jags seem content with keeping Meyer for the 2022 season and beyond.
The team enters their week 14 contest against the Tennessee Titans with a 2-10 record. Between their poor play on the field, and the tension that Meyer has created within the Jags’ building, it’s hard to believe Shad Khan will stay true to his word here. And if he does, don’t be surprised it the entire team requests a trade this offseason.
