The Carson Wentz era for the Indianapolis Colts lasted just one season and it went wrong on more ways than just the football field.
According to Zak Keefer of The Athletic, people within the Colts organization were frustrated with Wentz’s leadership and careless play.
“Over the course of the year, some grew frustrated at what they deemed a lack of leadership, a resistance to hard coaching and a reckless style of play, which had a role in several close losses this year,” Keefer wrote.
What’s even crazier is that Colts head coach Frank Reich apologized to team owner Jim Irsay for wanting them to pursue Wentz last offseason.
Wentz finished the 2021 season with 3,563 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The Colts only needed to win one of their final two games of the year against inferior teams, and Wentz could not deliver that and the franchise missed the playoffs.

That was the final nail in his coffin.
The Colts now need another QB while Wentz gets to try and rebuild his career in Washington.
