What an expensive bust!
United States Customs and Border Patrol say they seized nearly $12 million worth of counterfeit professional and collegiate championship team rings in a shipment that was headed from China to the United States back in March, according to CPB.
The 177 fake rings recovered were estimated to have a total retail price of $11.7 million. They include counterfeit rings from the NFL, MLB, NHL, and NCAA trademarks.
The lot included New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees championship rings as well as others.
“This most recent interception of counterfeit sports rings demonstrates the ongoing vigilance and commitment to the mission by our CBP Officers and Import Specialists,” said Troy Miller, director of CBP’s New York field office.
