The Houston Texans were dealt some bad news on Monday as their offensive line took yet another major hit.
According to reports, 2019 first-round pick Tytus Howard suffered a broken hand in practice and is expected to be out “for a while.”
Howard, who was the 23rd overall pick in 2019, was set to start at right guard for the Texans this year. He’s a big piece of what is expected to be a very strong offensive line for Houston in 2023. No word yet on how long he’ll be out, or whether there’s any possibility of him making it back in time for the team’s week one opener against the Baltimore Ravens.
For the time being, Howard is expected to be replaced by former Jets and Seahawks tackle George Fant.
Days earlier, the Texans lost center Scott Quessenberry for the season to a torn ACL and MCL. He’s expected to be replaced by 2023 second-round pick Juice Scruggs. Shaq Mason, Kenyon Green and Laremy Tunsil are expected to occupy the other three spots on Houston’s offensive line going into the new season.
