Tyreek Hill’s 54-yard touchdown against the Denver Broncos on Sunday looked so routine that one could have only assumed that it was the way Mike McDaniel drew it up.
Interestingly, however, this was not actually the case. As you can see in the clip below, a mic’d up Tua Tagovailoa spoke to Hill on the sideline after the touchdown. Turns out that the speedy Hill ran the wrong route but still got open for the easy six:
Well, you know things are going your way when innocent mistakes still lead to touchdowns. Hill’s unmatched speed gives him such an advantage that he could probably run any route he wants, whenever he wants, and still make a big play.
Hill and his Miami Dolphins went on to crush the visiting Broncos by a final score of 70-20. Miami became the first team to put up a 70-burger in a game since Washington, who put up an NFL-record 72 points in a 1966 game against the New York Giants.
The 2013 Denver Broncos put up a single-season record 606 points (37.9 points per game). For what it’s worth, Hill’s Dolphins have averaged 43.3 points per contest through three games. Even if you exclude the expansion of a 17-game schedule, the Dolphins are still on pace to score the most points through a 16-game season.
Miami will try to improve to 4-0 on the year when they visit the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.
