In a surprising development, star wideout Tyreek Hill says he tried to join the Cleveland Browns last offseason.
However, he was eventually dealt to the Dolphins but revealed it was Cleveland who he tried to land with.
“They should’ve paid me bro, I tried to go to Cleveland, I tried that but they didn’t want me,” Hill said.
For many Browns fans, this response came as a shock, as many weren’t aware that acquiring Hill was ever an option.
The Browns traded a fifth-round draft selection for Amari Cooper and that worked out for them as he went over 1,000 receiving yards and was everything Cleveland wanted. However, Hill had the best season of his career in his debut year with the Dolphins. Hill complied 1,710 receiving yards and seven touchdowns as the game’s most explosive player.
There’s no telling wheat type of numbers he would’ve had with Cleveland as Deshaun Watson only played in six games since he was suspended due to his conduct off the field regarding multiple women accusing him of sexual misconduct.

If the Browns shied away from paying Hill, it was probably because of the massive fully guaranteed deal that they gave to Watson. Even if Hill wanted to join the Browns, the team couldn’t afford him.
Ultimately, the Browns will never know if this was a missed opportunity for them.
