Former NFL running back LeSean McCoy has offered a controversial explanation for Eric Bieniemy’s difficulty as it pertains to landing a head coaching job in the NFL.
Bieniemy, who has helped the Kansas City Chiefs win two Super Bowls, the last one two Sundays ago, has since left for the Washington Commanders. He will continue as an offensive coordinator in Washington but has also been appointed as an assistant head coach.
McCoy doesn’t seem to believe Bieniemy will have success as the Commanders OC and discredited the 53-year-old during FS1’s Speak this week. You could read about that here.
Tyreek Hill has since taken a swipe at McCoy over his comments, implying that the former RB is simply being salty over the way his spell with the Chiefs turned out.
“Shady mad Eb told him tuck that ball,” the Miami Dolphins wide receiver tweeted with a laughing emoji after the opinion hit the airwaves.
Hill worked with Bieniemy in Kansas City from 2016-2021 and does not seem to agree with McCoy’s assertion. He isn’t the only one to take a stance against McCoy, with Jamaal Charles, a running back who also worked under Bieniemy, coming to the OC’s defense.
