Tyrann Mathieu saw all the money in Jamal Adams’ new contract and may have realized something’s not adding up in his negotiations with the Chiefs.
He went viral with his response on Twitter as he wrote the “disrespect is noted” in response to a tweet mentioning the deal in relation to his extension talks:
Adams’ new four-year, $70 million contract makes him the NFL’s highest-paid safety on a per-year basis.
Mathieu, on the other hand, is currently in the last season of a contract that has an average annual value of $14 million.
Mathieu’s next contract will feature the tail end of his prime and post-prime years while Adams is four yearsd younger than him.
After two consecutive First-team All-Pro seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs safety dropped from No. 39 to No. 58 in the annual NFL Top 100 rankings. In two seasons with the Chiefs, Mathieu has picked off 10 passes and recorded 137 tackles.
