There’s been mutual interest between the Philadelphia Eagles and safety Tyrann Mathieu. The team hosted him on a virtual visit last week and has been in communication with him for longer than that.
The 29-year-old would address a major need and help solidify Philadelphia’s back end, but the Eagles really haven’t been aggressive to seal the deal.
Mathieu responded to a tweet suggesting that the reason he has not signed with them is because of Kyle Hamilton’s falling draft stock.
The former Notre Dame star defensive back may potentially fall out of the top 10 and possibly right in the hands of the Eagles.
After an extremely successful run with the Kansas City Chiefs, Mathieu was shocked at the beginning of the offseason to see the team pass on re-signing him. Instead, the front office opted to ink safety Justin Reid to a three-year, $31.5 million contract.
After Reid got his deal, Mathieu came out and said he would have been willing to accept something similar to return to Kansas City.
