Lamar Jackson hasn’t received as much trade interest as anticipated this offseason. Injury concern is one of the reasons for the lack of interest in the Baltimore Ravens superstar quarterback.
He feverishly defended himself from that notion this week on Twitter. He wasn’t the only one as Tyrann Mathieu recently defended Jackson’s injury concerns amid the trade uncertainty.
“This man got hurt twice inside the pocket. I’ve never seen anyone tackle him with a heavy hit in space, his game is special and rare. I have never seen this guy take a hit when running and not get up immediately(he owns a mean stiff arm. When he hurt himself it was inside pocket.”
Mathieu’s public defense of Jackson was in response to a quote from Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, who cited long-term injury concerns when explaining why his team is out on the MVP talent as opposed to them being a candidate to trade for Deashun Watson last offseason desite his sexual cases and injury concerns.
“There’s no question (Lamar Jackson) is one of the top QBs in the league… looking at it objectively, there is some concern about whether or not he can play his style of game for… how long that can last,” Blank said, in reference to why the Falcons aren’t pursuing Jackson. “Hopefully a long time… but he’s missed five, six games each of the last two years.”
Baltimore has never made it to the Super Bowl with Lamar, but the team has established themselves as a tough competitor in the regular season and a potential threat beyond that.

It will be interesting to see if any team emerges as a legitimate trade suitor for Lamar Jackson.
As of right now, it appears that Jackson may very well be suiting up to play with the Ravens in 2023.
Lamar Jackson and Tyrann Mathieu Are Rivals With Respect
Jackson and Mathieu have had their fair share of battles over the years. They’ve gone head-to-head in each of the last four seasons.
While Mathieu was victorious in their first two meetings, it was Lamar Jackson who came away with the W in the last two. That includes their epic 2021 battle, when Mathieu picked off Lamar Jackson twice, but his Chiefs still fell to the Ravens by a score of 36-35, thanks in large part to two Lamar touchdown runs in the fourth quarter.
Mathieu now resides in the NFC South with the New Orleans Saints, so he won’t get to see much of Lamar anymore (unless the Ravens QB is traded to the NFC). But he does get to see the Falcons twice a year. So if Blank didn’t get Mathieu’s message on Twitter, perhaps the Saints safety can deliver it in person at some point during the 2023 season.
