A two-time Super Bowl champion has announced his retirement 10 years removed from his last game.
Former New York Giants cornerback Corey Webster hasn’t played in the NFL since the 2013 season. But he officially called curtains this Friday, at the age of 41.
The erstwhile CB got to retire as a Giant in front of reporters, having spent his entire career with the team.
“It’s a long time overdue,” he remarked. “I never wanted to play for anyone else.”
The Giants drafted Webster as the 43rd overall pick out of LSU in 2005. He played 131 games in their colors, registering 375 total tackles, 97 passes defended, 22 interceptions, and eight forced fumbles. He also returned four fumbles for touchdowns.

The 41-year-old signed a one-day contract with the Giants on Friday so he could officially retire as a G-Man.
Aside from his performances, Webster was respected as a leader in the NY locker room and had a positive influence on his teammates. That he gets to retire as a Giant is a neat touch from the team, though it seemed like it might never happen.
