Two NFL franchises have been named as potential destinations for Aaron Rodgers as they could possibly steal the quarterback from the New York Jets.
Rodgers is widely expected to be traded to New York, having publicly declared that it is his intention to play for them. But that was weeks ago and the Jets seem no closer to agreeing a move with the Green Bay Packers, whose asking price is considered steep given the quarterback’s age and the likelihood of only having him for a year.
According to Matt Lombardo of Heavy.com, the San Francisco 49ers, and Baltimore Ravens could end up pipping the Jets to Rodgers.
Rodgers was raised just outside San Francisco and there were rumors he could join the Niners via trade in 2021. Obviously, nothing materialized on that front.
The Packers would hate to trade Rodgers to an NFC team but they clearly have difficulty moving him and could be tempted to send him to San Francisco if the offer is good enough.
While the 49ers don’t have any first or second-round picks for this year’s draft, they could conceivably send later 2023 picks along with a first-rounder in 2024 the Packers’ way.

As for the Ravens, they are in a sticky situation with Lamar Jackson and it’s been suggested that they could offer the Packers their 22nd overall pick in exchange for Rodgers and trade Jackson to the Indianapolis Colts for the No. 4 overall pick. Such a move would allow them to remain strong at quarterback while being able to add a formidable defender.
Of course, Rodgers is more likely to sign with the Jets as planned. But possibilities still loom.
