In 2022, we haven’t heard much about the quarterbacks available in this year’s draft class, and that’s because none of them are looked at as a franchise-changing guy.
According to Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network, “Right now, it looks like a sure bet the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers take a signal-caller in the first round.” Adding, “Word is there’s a very real possibility the Seattle Seahawks move into the back end of Round 1 and grab their quarterback of the future.”
In the last few years, the Saints have watched Drew Brees retire and the Steelers watched Ben Roethlisberger head off into the sunset.
The Saints at least have a capable starter after re-signing Jameis Winston. The Steelers signed Mitchell Trubisky and have Mason Rudolph and are still reeling from the tragic loss of Dwayne Haskins.
Haskins was the team’s third QB during the 2021 season and he would have been in the mix for a roster spot again in 2022. Liberty’s Malik Willis still seems to be the ultimate goal for Pittsburgh. Outside of him, they have essentially shown an equal amount of interest in Sam Howell, Matt Corral, Desmond Ridder, and Kenny Pickett.
