Two More Coaches Expected To Join Brian Flores’ Lawsuit Against The NFL

Brian Flores’ lawsuit is not going away. In fact, it is expected to get even stronger now.

Back in early February, the former Dolphins head coach dropped a lawsuit against the National Football League that alleged racism in the league’s hiring practices, as well as the pay and retention of black coaches.

Now, two more are expected to join Flores’ suit.

“Two other coaches are expected to join Brian Flores’ lawsuit against the league,” ESPN’s Brooke Pryor reported. “Two other teams are expected to be implicated, extending all the way up to the ownership level.”

The additional plaintiffs will reportedly allege bias on the part of team’s for failing to be hired for head jobs.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ decision to bring Brian Flores onto the coaching staff as a senior defensive assistant while he is suing the NFL and three other teams came as a bit of a shock.

Tomlin, who is among the few minority head coaches in the NFL, explained the decision to hire Flores.

“I wanted to stay close to Brian when his legal issues started. I just didn’t want him to feel like he was on an island. From a coaching fraternity standpoint, I owed him that. … I was in position to provide that,” Tomlin said, via ESPN.

Tomlin added: “There’s so many ways that he’s going to help us and help me. His contributions are going to be significant.”

In the lawsuit, Flores alleged the Giants told third parties they were hiring Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll as their next head coach before they actually interviewed him. He pointed to a text message exchange with New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who appeared to think he was texting Daboll and not Flores about getting the job.

The lawsuit also stated that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross told him he would be paid $100,000 for every loss during his first season in order for the team to tank and get a higher draft pick.

The NFL hired former Attorney General Loretta Lynch for its defense against the suit.
