Former NFL offensive tackle Michael Oher is embroiled in a legal battle with Sean And Leigh Anne Tuohy, the couple who took him in when he was in high school.
The Tuohys stand accused of tricking Oher into a conservatorship that allowed them to profit off his story, with the former Ravens, Panthers, and Titans player claiming as much in a filing made in August.
The family had denied the allegations off the bat. And, this week, they made it official, filing a response in which their attorneys claim that four members of the family, as well as Oher, received $100,000 each from ‘The Blind Side’ movie, per ESPN.
Sean and Leigh Anne’s response states that they “stand ready, willing and able to terminate the conservatorship by consent at any time.”
They also note having received a $200,000 donation to their foundation from the movie’s proceeds and that Oher was offered the same amount but “failed to take the necessary action to initiate the foundation” despite their recommendations.
While they admit to calling Michael their adopted son, they claim it was “in the colloquial sense and they have never intended that reference to be viewed with legal implication.”
