Last season was a brutal one for Tua Tagovailoa who suffered several concussions that forced him to miss many games as well as a playoff game.
His health had many wondering if he would even play next season or at all ever again. In a recent interview, his parents made it clear Tua will be the Dolphins starting quarterback when the next season kicks off.
“No, he comes back. That’s their guy. They love him, we love them and what they’re doing and how they are helping with his recovery and trying to get him back,” his parents said via a local CBS affiliate.
The biggest scare for Tua last year came against the Cincinnati Bengals when Tagovailoa was thrown to the turf and smacked his head on the ground. His body went into a fencing position and he would be stretchered off the field. He would go on to miss two games.
Then, he suffered another concussion after the Week 16 loss to the Green Bay Packers. He was able to finish off that game but did not play the rest of the year, which included the team’s playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.
Galu Tagovailoa said his son continues to go through concussion protocol, but is “grateful” for the Dolphins in aiding in the process.

“Very thankful for Miami,” she said.
Tagovailoa was in his third NFL season but his first with head coach Mike McDaniel. The change at head coach was everything for his development. It led to him breaking his career highs in yards (3,548), touchdowns (25), and completions (400) in just 13 games.
