This was supposed to be a big breakout season for Tua Tagovailoa. And, for the most part, it was! But his latest concussion could put not only his 2022 campaign in jeopardy, but also his future in the NFL.
The Miami Dolphins quarterback was already the subject of a concussion controversy earlier in the season when doctors allowed him to stay in a game against the Buffalo Bills after suffering what clearly appeared to be a concussion.
Not only that, but Tua was also cleared to play just four days later, on Thursday Night Football. And the result was an ugly scene, as Tagovailoa was knocked unconscious and had to be carted off the field and taken to a local hospital with his second head injury in less than a week.
Now, it appears as though Tua Tagovailoa has suffered his third concussion of the season. And if that is in fact the case, it means the former fifth-overall pick has reached unchartered territory.
According to neuroscientist and popular concussion doctor Chris Nowinski, no NFL player has ever had three diagnosed concussions in a single season.
That’s not a single-season record that anyone wants, as it could very likely spell the end of Tua’s 2022 season.

And with how often these concussions seem to be happening for the former Alabama QB, it’s hard to imagine this won’t be a problem for him going forward in his career.
At this point, all we can do is pray for the health of Tua… And perhaps we should question how it is that a fan on Twitter was able to point out exactly when the Miami signal-caller suffered his latest concussion, yet the NFL’s concussion spotters totally missed it.
