Tua Tagovailoa was the butt of jokes this Thursday after footage of his bizarre helmet popped up on social media.
The Miami Dolphins quarterback has been practicing with a video camera on his helmet this offseason, having gotten cleared after a concussion ordeal. He’s had a small camera on the side for a bit but, on Thursday, he opted to switch things up by wearing a Polaroid-style contraption on the top.
One has to wonder whose idea this was. Could it be Tua making fun of the original headgear device or was it all Mike McDaniel’s doing?
Our money’s on Tua.

McDaniel has explained that the signal-caller is wearing a camera on his helmet so coaches can see exactly what he sees, including inside the huddle. Tua wasn’t initially 100 percent on board, though.
“You think of the integrity of the huddle, like, ‘Man, do I really want, you know, the coaches to hear what I’m saying to the guys?'” he was quoted as saying by Pro Football Network. “Because sometimes you might not like a play, and you go into it, and it’s like, you know, you tell the guys how you feel, but you basically tell the guy, ‘Hey, I’m skipping this progression to come to you, so you better be there.'”
While our money’s on the QB, we’ll have to admit that Tua might not be old enough to even know about Polaroids. Still, it’s on him.
