While it’s great to hear that Tua Tagovailoa will be released from the hospital and travel home with the team, it has also raised several questions among the public.
People were already questioning the Miami Dolphins’ handling of Tua Tagovailoa’s head injury after he was allowed to return to last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills, despite clearly being concussed late in the first half.
Not only that, but Tua was allowed to play once again, just five days later, on Thursday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals tonight.
And everyone’s worst nightmare unfolded when he was tackled by a Bengals player in the second quarter, leaving him laying on the turf in a frightening position.
It’s been a series of questionable decisions from the Dolphins’ medical personnel up to this point, and they continued that trend by announcing that Tua Tagovailoa would be discharged from the hospital tonight so that he could fly home with the team.
Like we previously said, while the news is good with regards to Tua’s health, it is also worrisome that they would allow the QB to fly home so soon — especially after you consider what happened to former Chargers Pro Bowl guard Kris Dielman back in 2011.

After suffering a concussion against the Jets, Dielman was cleared to fly home with the team, but he suffered a seizure on the plane. The team was forced to make an emergency landing and that was the end of Dielman’s career.
As Yahoo’s John Gennaro says, Dielman is “lucky he lived.”
All we can do is pray that the doctors are making the right call with Tua Tagovailoa, and that he makes a safe return to Miami.
