We’re only three weeks into the 2023 NFL season, but there’s already a clear-cut front-runner to win this year’s MVP honors.
According to Odds Shark, Miami Dolphins’ signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa is the heavy favorite to win the 2023 MVP Award at +380. Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the reigning MVP, is a distant second at +600.
Buffalo Bills’ QB Josh Allen has bounced back nicely the last two weeks after an ugly Week 1 opener against the New York Jets, and he carries the third-best odds at +800. He’s followed by Philadelphia Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts (+900) and Baltimore Ravens’ QB and 2019 MVP winner Lamar Jackson (+1500).
Among all non-QB players, San Francisco 49ers’ running back Christian McCaffrey has the best odds at +2500. Dallas Cowboys’ linebacker Micah Parsons has the best odds among all defensive players at +5000.
There’s a long way to go, but there’s no denying that Tagovailoa has been the league’s best player through three weeks. The Alabama product has completed 71.3 percent of pass attempts for 1,024 yards, eight touchdowns and only two interceptions.
Tua’s Dolphins put up a ridiculous 70 points (!) against Russell Wilson’s Denver Broncos on Sunday, the second-most point total ever by a team in a single game. Washington put up a record 72 points in a Nov. 27, 1966 contest against the New York Giants.
