It turns out the Super Bowl 55 streaker wasn’t such a genius after all.
Yuri Andrade, who infamously streaked onto the field during said Super Bowl matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, claimed to have made $375,000 off a $50,000 prop bet as he snatched odds on someone doing exactly what he did during the game.
Andrade was arrested and paid a $1,000 fine after disturbing the match, having covered a significant distance while wearing a hot pink leotard bearing the name of an adult site.
With the story resurfacing after the latest Super Bowl streaking incident, sports business reporter Darren Rovell has called Yuri out with claims that bettors are only allowed to wager up to $400 on such an event while no sportsbooks in America offer odds on the streaker bet.
Yuri did make claims of using several friends to make multiple bets from different amounting to around $50K via Costa Rica-based sportsbook Bovada. The site ended up refunding all of the bets anyway.
So yes, it appears it was all for noting.
