Troy Aikman had a lot to say about Dak Prescott after leading the team to another failed season.
Troy Aikman was expecting to watch the Cowboys this weekend, but instead, he discussed their disappointing loss, Dak Prescott, and more. The Dallas Cowboys legendary quarterback made a resounding statement on Dak Prescott and his future entering a contract year.
While speaking with reporters at an event at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas Tuesday, Aikman expressed support for Prescott moving forward.
“Well, I do know that we all draw on our past experiences. When we don’t have great experiences, those then become hard to overcome,” Aikman said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “I think that’s the challenge for Dak. Because the question for him and really for the team isn’t so much what happens in the regular season now. It’s how are they going to play and how is he going to play when you get into the postseason.
“That makes for a long year when that’s the way it works. I’ve been there as well, as far as when the expectations are that high. I still believe in Dak. I think until you do it, there’s always those criticisms.”
Prescott still has one year remaining on his current contract, but many reports state he should be getting an extension.
Cowboys fans are desperate for an NFC Championship Game appearance and obviously, a Super Bowl trip, Prescott has proven to be good in the regular season, but now he needs to take what he’s already done in the regular season and translate it into January.

Few men understand the true pressure of being the quarterback of the Dallas football Cowboys. Everything you do is held to a higher standard as you are playing for the most hated and polarizing team in the entire league if not the country.
Prescott played at an MVP-caliber level throughout the regular season, but he and his Cowboys were once again unable to make a postseason run as the No. 2 seeded Cowboys became the first team at that seed to lose to a No. 7 seed.
