Taylor Swift has just about taken over the NFL through her rumored relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. But Troy Aikman and Joe Buck were having none of it on Monday night and refused to mention her during ESPN’s broadcast of the game between the Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants.
It’s been a disastrous start to the season for New York teams, with both the Giants and Jets now 1-3. The Seahawks won 24-3 at the MetLife Stadium this Monday while Aikman and Buck took charge of the airwaves. And some fans were probably glad that there was no mention of the world-famous singer.
Swift, 33, was at said stadium to watch Kelce play the Jets on the weekend, an appearance which led to NBC attracting record-breaking ratings. The NFL will appreciate the extra attention it’s been getting since rumors of the coupling took root, but fans seem to be getting tired of the artiste and she was booed when one of her commercials played on the MetLife jumbotron this Monday.
Aikman and Buck also had a funny Swift-related exchange during the fourth quarter, joking about avoiding mentions.
Joe Buck: “You know what this game needs..”
Troy Aikman laughs.
Buck: “We made it to 5:26 to play without saying…”
Troy Aikman laughs.
Buck: “You going to say it?”
Troy: “I don’t think I need to.”
