A bunch of fans online exploded that Troy Aikman was sexist after the “Monday Night Football” commentator remarked on a controversial penalty that it was time to “take the dresses off” with regard to excessive roughing-the-passer calls.
During Monday’s Kansas City Chiefs-Las Vegas Raiders game, Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones appeared to sack Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, forcing a fumble and recovering the ball. However, he and the Chiefs got screwed when officials threw a flag for roughing the passer.
“I hope that the competition committee looks at this during the set of meetings, and we take the dresses off,” Aikman said on ESPN.
While on 96.7 The Ticket this Thursday, Aikman addressed his “take the dresses off” comment.
“My comments were dumb, just shouldn’t have made them,” Aikman said, via the New York Post. “Just dumb remarks on my part.”
Aikman joined ESPN this year after a lengthy run as a color commentator for Fox’s NFL broadcasts. A three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback with the Dallas Cowboys, Aikman signed five-year contract worth roughly $90 million with ESPN.
