Three-time Super Bowl champion QB Troy Aikman, just like the Dallas fan base, is admittedly shocked by the Cowboys’ continued failure in the playoffs.
With his ESPN duties finished for the season ahead of conference championship weekend, Aikman had planned for Dallas to be playing this Sunday in Santa Clara.
“I’m free this weekend,” Aikman admitted.
He added he even did not plan a vacation because he assumed the Cowboys would be playing deeper into the playoffs.
“I really anticipated that Dallas would be playing in the championship game. Figured it would be in San Francisco. So I was planning on going to the game, Didn’t book a vacation after my season and so I really liked this team all year long.”
Instead of playing this weekend, Dallas was bounced out of the playoffs in the Wild Card round, in a 48-32 home loss to the No. 7 seed Green Bay Packers. It was easily the most points the defense had given up all year.

Jordan Love threw for three touchdowns, Aaron Jones ran for three more and Darnell Savage returned an interception 64 yards for a score as the Green Bay Packers handed the Dallas Cowboys their first home loss since the 2022 opener.
The Dallas Cowboys became the first No. 2 seed to lose to a No. 7 seed when the Green Bay Packers came into town and won. They were also the only Wild Card team to lose a home game this year.
