NFL fans are not buying what former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman is selling, at last not where it pertains to Dak Prescott.
Prescott, the Cowboys’ current QB, has been a starter for the last seven years but hasn’t managed to lead the team to an NFC Championship Game, let alone a Super Bowl. The Cowboys’ social media team did little to hide the franchise’s disgust at Dak after he threw two interceptions in the divisional-round fixture against the San Francisco 49ers last season, with owner Jerry Jones also spewing some criticism.
Aikman, meanwhile, won three Super Bowls as the Cowboys QB between 1993 and 1996 and admittedly set a standard; yet that was a long time ago and fans don’t see title wins as the benchmark for America’s Team anymore.
So they weren’t in agreement when he said the following:
“Dak has never cowered to the expectations of winning the Super Bowl. He’s taken that head-on. He’s the only one I’ve heard since I’ve played that is really been that adamant about that being the standard for a Cowboys quarterback.’’

Prescott will still be the Cowboys’ main man in 2023. Maybe he does at least one better than he did last season and Aikman will get to rub it in.
