San Francisco 49ers fans reckon Trey Lance could be on the move based on a recent comment from head coach Kyle Shanahan regarding the team’s quarterback situation.
Jimmy Garoppolo is no longer with the team, having joined the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency, but they still have three very good quarterbacks on the roster. Brock Purdy has already been vaunted as the leading candidate for the starting position, but there are concerns about his injury.
Lance, meanwhile, is still very much a part of the equation, while the Niners have brought Sam Darnold in as a third option. One would assume Lance would be the one in line to start when the assets traded to secure the QB are taken into consideration, yet that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Given Shanahan’s latest thoughts on the possibility of trades involving his quarterbacks, fans are speculating over Lance’s future.
CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson has reported that Shanahan has made claims of wanting to keep all three players but would still listen to trade proposals for either of them.
Of course, teams aren’t all that transparent at such a point in the offseason and give the impression that they aren’t committed either way as they don’t want other teams to know their plans. However, fans still think that Lance is set for the trading block on the back of the coach’s comments.

Purdy’s form post-recovery could prove to be the biggest factor when it comes to Lance’s future with the franchise. But we’ll just have to wait and see how things turn out.
