With the 49ers moving on from Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason, San Francisco will likely enter their 2023 campaign with Trey Lance back at the starting position just as he was before his injury last year. The former No. 3 overall pick is a dual-threat signal caller that displayed flashes early in his NFL career, but he got cut down after he suffered a season-ending leg injury just two games into this past season.
The one thing that has fans as well as the front office worried is his passing accuracy being so dreadful through his first eight NFL appearances.
In February, it was reported that Lance had taken any reworking of his throwing motion off the table. It seems he changed his mind for the better. Some videos leaked of quarterback workouts featuring Trey Lance and Patrick Mahomes together and 49ers fans can only hope some magic rubs off.
It appears Lance has completely changed his throwing motion.
The difference in how he is throwing can be seen in the below video:

Two years ago around this time, the 49ers decided to go all-in on a new quarterback in Trey Lance by investing the third overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft in the North Dakota State product. Unfortunately, injuries have kept him from showing what he can do with only four starts to his name in two seasons.
This offseason is a pivotal one for Lance.
Lance completed 54.9 percent of his passes in eight career appearances for 797 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.
For the 49ers, this is a great thing for them for Lance to be working on a glaring problem. Lance being better can work out in the long run as the team already knows what they have in ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ Brock Purdy before he suffered an injury in the NFC Championship Game. Purdy suffered a full tear of his ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) and faces a long recovery.
