Trey Hendrickson is having himself a “Defensive Player of the Year” kind of season for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2023.
The superstar defensive end entered tonight’s contest against the Buffalo Bills with eight sacks, just two behind the NFL leader, Danielle Hunter. And he was looking to add more on Sunday Night Football against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
At one point during the third quarter, Hendrickson chased down Allen and thought he had taken him down just before crossing the line of scrimmage. However, the refs spotted the ball just far enough to give Allen a one-yard rush, depriving Hendrickson of the coveted sack.
Looking to sway the official’s decision, Hendrickson went with tickling to see if he could get a better spot of the ball. Unfortunately, all he would get were some laughs from the ref.
So far, Hendrickson doesn’t have a sack on the night, despite a few close calls. The good news is his Bengals have a late lead against their AFC rivals.
