Great news for the Jacksonville Jaguars!
When the week kicked off and the team began their preparations for an in-state battle against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it appeared as though they would be going into the contest without their franchise quarterback. After all, Lawrence had entered the league’s concussion protocol following a rough outing against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.
It’s rare for players who enter the league’s concussion protocol to exit it in time for the following week’s game, but Lawrence appears to have done just that.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Lawrence has cleared concussion protocol and is traveling with the team to Tampa.
This doesn’t mean Lawrence will play for sure, as we have seen some teams bench their stars out of precautionary reasons, even after they exited the league’s concussion protocol. However, with the Jags in a tight playoff battle and only three weeks remaining, they may not have the luxury of being able to err on the side of caution.
If Lawrence can’t go, it’ll be backup C.J. Bethard taking over under center for the 8-6 Jaguars, as they look to snap a three-game skid.
