There appears to be a chance that the Jacksonville Jaguars won’t have star quarterback Trevor Lawrence for Thursday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Per NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Lawrence was a limited participant in the Jaguars’ practice on Tuesday. Second-stringer C.J. Beathard saw most of the first team reps, Wolfe added.
Jaguars reporter J.P. Shadrick shared a photo of Lawrence walking around on the field with a brace on his left knee:
Though the injury doesn’t appear to be anything too serious, the fact the Jaguars play on a short week obviously means there’s a high chance he won’t end up playing this Thursday. The Jaguars lead the weak AFC South division with a 4-2 record, and one can only assume that they’d rather play it safe with their franchise player.
The 24-year-old Lawrence is off to a superb start here in 2023, completing 67.1 percent of pass attempts for 1,439 yards and seven touchdowns against three interceptions. The Jaguars have won three straight games following a 1-2 start, highlighted by a statement win over the Buffalo Bills in London nine days ago.
