An impressive Trevor Lawrence stat goes to show just how successful the Doug Pederson hiring has been for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
One year after he was surprisingly fired by the Philadelphia Eagles, Pederson took the Jaguars’ head coaching position that became available following the disastrous Urban Meyer experiment. And in his first season with Jacksonville, Pederson has the team on the doorstep of an AFC South division title.
No matter what happens in Week 17, all the Jaguars need is a win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 18 at home to win the division. Lawrence’s breakout season as a sophomore has been a driving force in Jacksonville’s recent success, as he already has double the touchdown passes (24) in 2022 compared to his sophomore season (12 touchdowns).
This impressive stated, as noted by NFL.com’s Marc Sessler, is a testament to Pederson’s grade-A coaching job here in 2022:
With two games to go, Lawrence has already surpassed last season’s passing yards total (3,641). The No. 1 pick of the 2021 NFL Draft has 3,749 yards and 24 touchdowns against only seven interceptions.
If the Jaguars can complete the unlikely second-half turnaround by defeating Tennessee in Week 18, Pederson just might garner himself some Coach of the Year votes.
